Altenaer Straße 9
The industrial development of the late 19th century placed new demands on the post delivery service, and after a two-year construction period, the new post office, the “Reichs-Post- und Telegraphengebäude”, was opened in 1893. The interior of the building was designed in accordance with the logistical procedures and processes of the time, which prioritised the processing of package traffic. To speed up processing, package post was separated for the first time from the remaining post. A total of 50 civil servants and lower grade civil servants were assigned with the task. Today the building is a protected monument belonging to the city of Lüdenscheid, and since 1985 it has been in use as a municipal music school.
The work of the Gudrun Barenbrock will be on display at the “Alte Post” location.
