Wilhemstraße 56
The Capitol-Theater on upper Wilhelmstrasse was opened originally in 1907 as one of the first cinemas (“Central-Theater”, and later “Schauburg”). It was renamed “Capitol” in the 1930s. The original cinema already boasted 320 seats and remained a market leader right into the 1980s. The actual cinema was located on the building’s upper floor, while the ground floor was the site of “Berliner Hof”, a hotel and restaurant that operated here for many years. Today the premises house a health and beauty retail operation.
The work of Katharina Berndt will be on display at the “Cinema”
