Kremp & Hüttemeister

Humboldtstraße 9-11

The Kremp & Hüttemeister metal household goods factory (today: home accessories) was established in 1874. The Kremp & Hüttemeister premises on Humboldtstrasse consist of two buildings built at different times. The older residential and factory house was constructed in 1876, and the adjacent shipping building was built in 1913. The Kremp & Hüttemeister operation manufactured a variety of goods including metal fittings for leather goods. The residential and factory house is an example of the “Gründerzeit” architectural style, while the representative facing of the shipping building from 1913 also displays forms emanating from the Art Nouveau style. The shipping building was designed so that the entire ground floor served as a single, large shipping space, with the packing rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors and the storage facilities on the top floor. Many distinguishing features in the building’s interior are still preserved in their original state today. The buildings enjoy protected monument status and are still used for the production of fashion accessories.

The factory building is a part of the Märkische Strasse Technical Culture Monument.

The work of Gebhard Sengmüller will be on display at the “Kremp & Hüttemeister” location.
