Schützenhalle

Schützenplatz Loh

“Schützenfeste” (marksmen’s festivals) have been held in Lüdenscheid since 1850. The “new” Schützenhalle was built in 1899/1900 near the location of the original Schützenhalle, which had been built in 1860. The hall and its square have been used for a variety of purposes in the building’s now 100+ year history. During World War I, it was used as a military hospital. The local volunteer fire department erected a wooden climbing tower for exercises back in 1871. Today the Schützenhalle is used for a broad range of events, including of course the annual Lüdenscheid Schützenfest, which continues to be held in its ballroom and on its square. The Schützenhalle has enjoyed protected monument status since 1984.

The work of the Christian Breil and Andreas Ermisch will be on display at the “Schützenhalle” location.

This location is accessible by wheelchair location.
