Liebigstraße 11
As was common practice in Luedenscheid, industrialist Emil Turck built his Neo-baroque villa in 1887 near the Turck factory. The villa’s plans called for a two-storey building. One of its special features which is unfortunately no longer on hand was a tower fixture on the roof. But one pictorial document from 1938 shows another function that this tower served: The tower featured a wind wheel, probably for electricity generation.
Following its purchase by the city of Luedenscheid, the villa and its expansive garden were used as a municipal museum for a time.
Today, the villa enjoys protected monument status and houses a study centre and the “The Institute for Biography and History”.
The work of the Thorbjørn Lausten will be on display at the “Villa Turck” location.
